Relevant Population Characteristics
All women of childbearing age are at risk of developing gestational diabetes during pregnancy, but the risk increases for women who are older, overweight or obese, who are physically inactive, and who are members of a minority racial or ethnic group (in other words, the same risk factors as for type 2 diabetes).
