Relevant Population Characteristics

Old or young age and inexperience of the driver contributes to an increased risk of death or injury from motor vehicle traffic crashes. Excessive speed, distraction, impairment, and fatigue are other factors resulting in increased risk of motor vehicle traffic crashes and deaths due to those crashes. Beginning at age 15, more Utah males die in motor vehicle traffic crashes than Utah females.
